Dr. Salem can perform dental extractions here in our office . We offer nitrous oxide for your comfort if desired during an extraction. We have the ability to extract all adult teeth, incuding wisdom teeth and also children's teeth.
Avoid vigorous rinsing, spitting, and sucking through a straw for 24 hours. You can gently rinse your mouth with a warm salt solution--1/2 teaspoon salt in an 8-ounce glass of warm water. Rinsing will freshen and soothe your mouth.
You're going to be a little sore for up to a week . If we have prescribed medication for pain, take it as directed. Any instructions we've given you for antibiotics must be followed to the letter - take them until all are gone.
The extraction site may ooze blood for about 12 hours --expect your saliva to look pink. Persistent bleeding may be relieved by placing a rolled piece of gauze firmly against the area for 20 minutes. Please be careful not to bite your tongue, lip or cheek while still numb.
A blood clot will begin to form within an hour after surgery, and you must take special care with it for 24 hours. (The clot furnishes structure for new tissue and, eventually, bone.) Don't chew on it, brush it, or even rinse right away. This could dislodge the clot.
